Mathematics

The Encyclopaedia Britannica defines mathematics as follows:

“Science of structure, order, and relation that has evolved from counting, measuring, and describing the shape of objects. ”

Processes over time are not included here. The fact that time is treated as a 4th dimension is, of course, a fundamental scientific dilemma and dichotomy between ‘perceived reality’.

Hence my love for the Einstein quote:

“As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality,
they are not certain;
and as far as they are certain,
they do not refer to reality.”

My conclusion is that metrology, the science of measuring, is the bridge between the physics of measuring reality and the mathematics of describing it symbolically.
