Where

While I am based in West Hampstead in London, I travel frequently to a little village in the former DDR in Brandenburg – left of Berlin.

The romantic Havelland is one of the administrative regions in Brandenburg. It may be a flat reminder of the mountainous Silesia where I was born. My mum was happy there – after having changed kitchen and bedroom some 40 times as a refugee. And I am happy there because I get first-hand experience of what capitalism has done to the DDR and what the Euro has done to Germany. That relates to my ‘social life with meaning’ in London: the organisation of the Forum for Stable Currencies.

Fortunately, computer-aided thinking can take place wherever I am with my laptop, even though broadband became available in Buschow only late in 2008.
